When you install a PV system, it can either be tied to the APS power grid (“grid tied”) or installed as a standalone system (“off-grid”). With a grid tied system, you can still draw electricity from the APS grid when your PV system is not producing enough energy to meet your needs. Off-grid systems may make more sense in more remote locations.
Arizona Homeowners can claim a 25% tax credit (maximum of $1,000 credit) on solar devices installed on a residence. This is a one time tax credit and restricts the Arizona homeowner for additional credits for solar purchases made for the same residence in subsequent years.
The 30% tax credit is also available to homeowners uncapped (part of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008).
